Course Overview: This course is an inquiry-based science class exploring the interrelationships of the life, earth, and physical sciences. Required content includes the study of waves and energy, physical and chemical changes, energy transfer and interactions of matter and energy, earth systems, earth structures and processes, energy flow in ecosystems and populations.
Topics: : Quarter 1: Scientific Method, Matter, Forces and Motion. Quarter 2: Energy, Structures of Earth, and Plate Tectonics. Quarter 3: Soil Formation, Earth, Sun and Moon, Space Exploration, and How Earth Sustains Life. Quarter 4: Functions of Living Organisms, Flowering Plants, and Ecosystems.
Materials Needed: Five Star Mead 5 Subject Notebook, Loose-Leaf notebook paper, Pen, Pencil, Dry-Erase Marker, Sock/Wash Cloth, Scissors, Glue, Flash Drive, Colored Pencils, Ear Buds and Agenda.

2. Respect the rights and properties of yourself and others.
3. Be prepared with assignments and supplies.
Informal Assessments = 35%
Class work, Quizzes, Mini-Projects, Writing

Formal Assessments = 65%
Tests, Major Projects, Lab Reports
Other Information:
* For each unit, students will be provided with a study guide. This is not a graded assignment; however, it is to be used as a means to prepare them for their unit formal assessment.
* Student notes and handouts will be kept in the form of an Interactive Notebook. Students are expected to keep a thorough, clean, and organized notebook at all times.
Tutoring:
Tutoring will be offered for students on Thursdays, beginning at 8:15 am. Arrangements must be made ahead of time. A pass in the agenda must be obtained before Tuesday morning. During this time students may review content & skills, as well as make-up quizzes & tests.

- All assignments are to be completed and turn in on the designated due date. If this timeframe is exceeded, only partial credit will be given, as per the student handbook.
- Students absent from class are responsible to obtain and complete classroom assignments, homework, projects, tests, etc.
- Student may re-take a test, if they score lower than a 79%. Students will be responsible to initiate the process of re-testing.
- Please use the handbook in the student agenda for grading and assignment policy.
